![]() DECA is such a special organization, and I am not just saying that. When you compare DECA to other groups around school, DECA is almost always at the top. Why though? DECA has a unique objective that most high school organizations don’t have. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. That’s pretty cool… teaching high school students (and college students in collegiate DECA) business skills that many adults don’t learn until they are out working, in the real world. Whenever I explain to an adult what DECA is, they always exclaim how great that is and how beneficial it is to our future. That’s obviously awesome… really awesome, but is that what makes DECA SOOOOO amazing? To be completely honest I don’t think so. I think it is the members, the students. The students involved in DECA are unlike any other group of high school students. They are driven, motivated, well rounded, and have a sense of intellectual curiosity. Of course our conferences are so much fun and it’s awesome to get away for the weekend, but at these conferences we are learning! And we enjoy it! It’s because we, as DECA members, realize the potential that we have and strive to do the best that we can. When you take 200,000 + of these students (8,200 + in Florida) and put them into one organization, of course its going to be amazing! It’s a bunch of all-star kids competing, networking, helping the community, learning, and preparing for the future. And that’s what DECA is all about and what makes it such a special organization. I hope you enjoyed this blog entry! If you are one of the first 3 people to post on my Facebook wall what you are most excited about for this upcoming DECA year, I’ll send you a Starbucks gift card!!! Thanks for reading!
