I am so fortunate to be the Florida DECA President! In sports, you work hard for a year and you win the trophy in the end. When you’re elected to represent Florida DECA, it’s quite the opposite. I already won the trophy; I was elected by you, the Florida DECA members, at the 2013 Florida DECA CDC. Now its time to earn it! Over the next year, Team 54 will do everything we can in order to help grow and strengthen this organization.
I’m excited to announce a major project that Team 54 has developed in order to help create stronger bonds between chapters and Florida DECA. The Florida DECA Leadership Council will be created in order to give chapters and members the opportunity to voice their opinions about various events and share great ideas that their chapter has developed. Through the use of Facebook and online web meetings, we can all make this project a success and help put your individual chapter on the map! More information on the Leadership Council will be available in the upcoming weeks. We also changed a few things for the Florida DECA Leadership Training Conference in Orlando (Oct 11-13). This year, the Leadership Conference will provide you with actual ideas to directly benefit your chapter. After getting feedback from previous years and attending National DECA Leadership Conferences, we believe that this change will help make this great conference even better! My experience as the Florida DECA President has been incredible so far, and I know it will only get better as we implement these new ideas. For those of you who went to ICDC, you saw what a great chartered association Florida is! Next year when you go, I promise you that Florida will have even a bigger name for itself! I hope that you all enjoy the rest of the school and I wish you the best of luck during your exams!
