TEAM 60!
Are you interested in leaving Florida DECA better than you found it? Do you strive to represent your fellow members and give back to an amazing organization? If so, Team 60 is a perfect fit! DECA provides its members the opportunity to fulfill leadership positions and make a difference in their states through running for office. With determination and drive, you’ll be able to leave your legacy in DECA. Before you decide to run for office, make sure to review the expectations of each officer position and the responsibility the title entails! From planning ELS, to coordinating Helping Hands, Team 60 officers will be expected to give 110% effort. Now that you know you are ready and want to run for office, I have a few tips from experience of what you should prepare for! After submitting your Team 60 application, you will have to take a multiple choice test centered on the history of Florida DECA. In order to run for office, you must pass the test. So my first tip is to study ! Next, start preparing the platform for your campaign. This should include all of your ideas of how to make Florida DECA better. The more specific the better! Once you know your platform, start campaigning within your district. Keep in mind that you’re not allowed to campaign online, so it must be through word of mouth ! Many candidates choose to visit local chapters to garner extra support. Finally, my last tip is to socialize ! Remember that you are selling your ideas, not your booth. You and your team, should socialize with as many people as possible during CDC, regardless if they are voting delegates. By shaking hands and kissing babies, chapters listen to your ideas and remember you when they are voting. After all, members are looking for a friendly candidate who can not only represent them, but represent DECA as a whole! I wish all candidates the best of luck!
