Chapter Spotlight
By Marina Cepeda On a beautiful Saturday morning, Hialeah High DECA volunteered at the MDA summer camp, where children with Muscular Dystrophy are invited to have “the best week of the year.” During the week long retreat, these children enjoy themselves and participate in several activities such as basketball and arts and crafts, all funded by the community. Hialeah High DECA members, along with their adviser Mr. D’Amour, help set up the event and volunteered in various booths. Following the morning full of activities and dancing, we finished the day with a luncheon. In one day, I saw firsthand how DECA really is making a difference in the lives of people in our community. Through community service, Hialeah High DECA exemplified DECA’s core value of becoming community oriented! Awestruck by the impact of Hialeah High DECA, I encourage all chapters to reach out to their community and give back!
