As school winds down and the DECA year comes to an end, everyone is anticipating summer vacation. Camp, vacations, and fun with friends... What isn’t there to love about summer? While you are busy with your summer adventures, make sure to remember that there is always lots to do in DECA. Here are some ways to stay involved in DECA over the summer:
1. Plan an officer or member bonding day. The summer is the perfect time for an officer team to bond or meet new friends within your chapter. Activities such as bowling, laser tag, or a day at the beach are perfect opportunities to make memories outside of DECA conferences and meetings.
2. Plan your chapter’s 2014-2015 Chapter Projects. The summer months offer your chapter plenty of time to fully plan and organize Chapter Projects. Many chapters like to begin the events and activities for their chapter projects early in the fall, so being proactive and planning ahead will help ensure a quality project.
3. Start thinking about written manual ideas. If you are a big competitor and want to get an edge on your opponents, take time over the summer to brainstorm for your written manuals. The 2014-2015 themes of the professional selling events and 30-page manuals will be announced prior to the end of this school year.
Maximizing your time over the summer will help prepare for another great year in DECA. How will you use your summertime for DECA?
