Hey Florida DECA!!
This month i’m going to be talking about being Community Oriented! Community Oriented is something that is huge in DECA. Being Community Oriented is something when DECA members engage in their community to help someone/ something that is in the time of need, or just to advocate for DECA. The month of February is CTE month (Career and Technical Education Month) Career and Technical Education is something that helps students and young adults prepare for their future careers. DECA, falls directly under that category. So, this is a great month to go and advocate for DECA. Some ways to do this would be to go to your State Capital or to go to your city representatives. Now, CTE Month is not all it takes to be community oriented. Like I said before, go out and engage with your community. A huge example of being community oriented is when DECA put together the Disaster Relief Fund when people were in the time of need because of Hurricane Irma and Maria. Now that you have a better understanding of what it is to be community oriented, I look forward to seeing everything you do! See you later, Florida DECA ! Hello Florida DECA!!
This month I am going to be doing a chapter spotlight!! The chapter I have chosen to “show off” this month is Wellington DECA! Wellington DECA really shows off their chapter and takes pride in everything that they do! From constantly posting and keeping us updated on social media (be sure to follow them on twitter @WellingtonDECA) , as well as preparing for competition and putting in their hardest effort, Wellington DECA really embodies this year’s “LIMITLESS” theme!! Wellington DECA currently has a little bit over 400 members and is apart of the “200 club” creeping very closely to becoming apart of the “300 club”! Wellington DECA, Thank you so much for everything you do for this Organization, my team and I as well as the rest of Florida DECA are very proud of each and every one of you! Keep showing off what it means to be #LIMITLESS!!! That is all that I have for this month Florida DECA!! See you all back here next month! FLORIDA DECAAAA!!!
I can’t believe that this is the last Video Blog of 2017!! This month my blog is just going to be a slideshow of all pictures that I have found from Florida DECA Chapters Throughout DECA Month!! I hope that you all had a lot of fun attending, ELS, Power Trip and all of the rest of your DECA Month activities! I am so deeply proud of each and everyone of you. DECA Month is a time to bond with your fellow members/ advisors/ chapters on all things DECA and you guys really did that. Thank you so much for everything that you have done not only for each other and your own chapters but Florida DECA as a whole. I will see you all in 2018!! See ya, Florida DECA Hey Florida DECA!! This month I’m going to be talking about competition!
I want to start off by just saying, when picking what you want to compete in, make sure that you’re picking the right thing for you. Something you can relate to or something you’re good at. If you’re good at taking tests and doing role pays, take an individual or team decision making test! If you’re good at writing papers, make sure you do a written event or chapter project! Also, if you’re doing something that requires you to work with someone else, make sure you pick a partner/ partners that you work well with and will put in the same amount of effort as you do. Personally, Chapter Projects are my favorite because you’re participating in them as a whole chapter then brining the project to competition and seeing it all come together is just so amazing. Florida DECA wants to see YOU make it past the State CDC and make it to the International Career Development Conference, this year held in Atlanta, Georgia and become an international finalist! We want to see YOU on stage winning that #DECAGlass! So put in your best work/ effort and I promise it will pay off in the end! That’s all that I have this month but if you have any other questions or need anything at all, feel free to contact me at anytime! My email is logan@fldeca.org. I’ll see you next month, Florida DECA !!! Hey Florida DECA!!
This month i’m going to be talking about Chapter Officer 101!! Now that we are a few months into the school year and you have probably gotten to know a few things about your officer team, you are probably starting to get to work. You’re at the time when you are starting to see each other’s DECA leadership styles come out ( Driver, Energizer, Care Taker & Analyzer ) & see how you all work together. You can incorporate these into each of your officer positions and see how your leadership style matches up with your role as an officer. Next, you want to make sure that everyone feels like they are not only a part of a team but as a family as well. You don’t just want to do work work work but you want to make sure that you’re having fun as well ( just make sure that it’s in the right time and place )! That’s all for this month! If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me at anytime via email (logan@fldeca.org) or via social media direct message! See you, Florida DECA! Hey Florida DECA!!
This month I'm going to be talking about the ABP but more individually Community Oriented in this years ABP! Team 60 wants to make sure that all of you Florida DECA are staying involved in your community. Making sure you're doing community events, community service, anything like that. We want to make sure that you. So this year since we did switch the ABP up a little bit, we did incorporate a bunch of activities for you to do to insure that you are staying community oriented throughout the year and while you are working on the ABP! That's all I have for this month! I hope to see you all soon!!! See ya, Florida DECA! Hey Florida DECA!!!
I hope that you all had an amazing summer & are ready to get back to work & prepare for this upcoming year within DECA!! This month, I'm going to be doing a chapter spotlight on East Ridge High School DECA! For those of you that aren't familiar with East Ridge DECA, they are located on the outskirts of Orlando! They have roughly 150 members in their chapter and are growing each year! Last year, East Ridge completed the thrive campaign, got an achievement award for donating 1,000 items to Florida DECA Helping Hands as well as being recognized as a Gold Level Chapter from Team 59!! East Ridge just came back from Summer ELS & has taken back a lot of the information they learned there & already started using it to help their chapter become #LIMITLESS this year!! East Ridge!!!! Florida DECA cannot wait to see what you can accomplish this year. We are so proud of each and every one of you! Thank you so much for everything you have done within your chapter as well as within Florida DECA! Hello Florida DECA welcome back from ICDC!
Annually, over 18,000 members, advisors, professional members and alumni qualify to attend the International Career Development Conference. This year we had the highest attendance at ICDC that we have ever had! With the conference being in Anaheim, California, there was an attendance of over 21,000!!! Whether you're an advisor, you're competing, attending an academy, campaigning for an office position or you're just there for the ride of a lifetime, ICDC is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. This year, Florida DECA was fortunate enough to have over 12 members make it to finals in their competitive events. With one of these members being Annika Mursten, Placing 1st in the whole world in EBP!!! Congratulations to Annika and all of the other International Finalists!!! Each year Florida DECA also hosts a Florida night. This year Florida DECA night was held at Medieval Times in which we all had a team and the teams competed in jousting to see who would win! We also were given dinner in which we had to eat without utensils to follow along with "Medieval Times" Also, a big congratulations goes out to the newly elected Executive Officer Team!! We can't wait to see what you accomplish this year!! Florida DECA cannot wait to see everyone again at all of the conferences this upcoming year, especially ICDC which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia!! Each year DECA Inc. Releases the Chapter Campaigns and how to reach Thrive level within your chapter on each of the Campaigns. Today, i will be talking specifically about the Community Service Campaign. To complete this campaign you need to do 2 out of 3 of these things.
1. Get 75% of your chapter to participate in the campaign. 2. 1 or more Community Service Activities 3. 1 or more forms of publicity or promotion This is a very easy campaign for your chapter to complete. Team 60 has come up with a great way to complete this. If your chapter participates in the fall drive of Helping Hands you can use that for this campaign. Say your chapter has 100 members. If you have 75 of those members to participate in the activity, you have completed the campaign. Just use one form of publicity or promotion and then you're done! This is just one of many ways that you can complete this campaign. Its probably one of the easiest ones to complete!! Team 60 cannot wait to see what you all can do with this campaign!!! Good luck this year at ICDC, I can't wait to see you all there. See you later, Florida DECA!! |
