How’s it going Florida DECA!?
You may have noticed that the theme this year for our state is to Do More Than Survive, but to TRHIVE. Your State Action Team is encouraging you to push yourselves even more with new competitive events, community service, and all of our conferences this year. To learn about the upcoming Fall Leadership Training Conference, check out Kasey’s blog here. I am excited to see many of you in Orlando this October as we prepare to THRIVE at District and State competitions. As DECA members, we don’t just aim to qualify, we aim to win. We are emerging leaders in the classroom, community, and competition. So this year, Florida DECA members, I challenge you to Do More Than Survive, THRIVE! Sincerely, Erica Mick, Team 53Vice President

August Blog – Community Service – Zack Schaja
Hey Florida DECA! I hope all you all had a great summer and are getting ready for an AMAZING year for Florida DECA! I wanted to briefly talk to you about community service and some of the plans that Florida DECA has for giving back to the community. Community service is important and encouraged at all levels of DECA. At the local level, many individual chapters raise money for a variety of charities and some host events in order to raise awareness for a particular disease or a charity. At the national level, money and awareness is raised every year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Florida DECA is working hard to assist Families in Transition, a charity who assists homeless children in the Seminole County Public Schools System. Florida DECA’s mission is to collect clothing at LTC for this organization. We are encouraging chapters attending the conference to bring as may pieces of gently used or new clothing as you can! Florida DECA is also collecting boxes of macaroni and cheese at states to donate to Families In Transition. For each of these events, a traveling trophy will be given to the 3 chapters that donate the most. See if your chapter can win! I am very passionate about community service because I understand the importance of giving back to the community. I encourage Florida DECA members to participate in community service projects not because they have to, but because they want to. Please feel free to share any community service projects or ideas with Florida DECA on the Facebook page! |
