Increased Popularity
Juan Sanchez, DECA North Atlantic Region Vice President, recently wrote an article called “3 Ways to Increase the “I am DECA” Presence in Your School.” This article explored various ways that every chapter can successfully promote their DECA chapter. Juan’s three steps are: 1. Host a DECA Event. Juan says there is no better to express “I Am DECA” than to run a DECA event. These events can be either a meeting, a fundraiser, and/or a full promotional plan. Doing these will increase the popularity DECA has in your school. It will also give you a closer bond with your members by working together. 2. Create or Update Your DECA Board. A great way of promoting DECA in your school is getting a designated spot in your school to put a board, and fill that board with all of your chapter’s DECA activities. This will help increase awareness of DECA in your school! 3. Make a Promotional DECA Video. Everyone loves videos right?! Why not make one yourself? Creating a promotional video to show to your chapter’s potentially new members of your DECA chapter will help create a different way of showing your “I am DECA” experience. A great way to make this promotional video is to not only include your officer team, but as many members as you can. Also telling your DECA stories in this video! After you have made this video try to get it out into your school in any way possible, such as your school’s television station and on your chapter’s social media pages. You can find the entire article by Juan Sanchez on DECA Direct at http://www.decadirect.org/June-2014/3-Ways-to-Increase-the-I-am-DECA-Presence-in-Your-School/. If you follow these steps, your chapter will be on the next step of a great year!
