CDC is over and ICDC is coming up, so how can I continue to be involved with DECA outside of competitions?
Many members and officers are asking this question. Well the easiest way is community service! Community service is not only a great way to interact with your community, but it is an amazing opportunity for members to participate in DECA. This is something that everyone can participate in and will make your members feel more involved and may encourage them to rejoin your chapter. But let us not overshadow what great things community service does for our community. There can never be too many volunteers! Just imagine seeing the smile that you put on people’s faces when you help them! I know personally it is one the most satisfying thing you can see. Seeing how just a few hours of your life can make an impact on another person(s) life. Words cannot explain it. So go out and do it! You can find many community service opportunities online. One resource that I use is a website called volunteermatch.org and it could be a starting point for you and your chapter! Also remember that one of our four DECA principles is being Community Oriented and it should not be overlooked! If you have any questions on anything involving community service please feel free to email me at angel@fldeca.org.
